Globalization will hold a research workshop on “China's Energy Anxiety and
its Foreign Policy Implications.”
The Center on Environment, Energy and Resource Policy at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the Center for China and
Globalization will hold a research workshop on “China's Energy Anxiety and its Foreign Policy Implications.”
Our two presenters include:
Prof. Xu Xiaojie, chair of the World Energy Research programs at Institute of World Economics and Politics sponsored by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, will speak on “Black Energy Swan.” In his presentation, Prof. Xu will introduce the subject of his latest book which focuses on the huge uncertainties and risks resulting from China’s rise and its participation in competition for resources. He will analyze the shift of scenarios from PetroDragon to Black Swan and then White Swan and conclude with a set of options available for China.
Prof. David Zweig, director of Center on Environment, Energy and Resource Policy, HKUST, will speak on “China's Energy Anxiety and its Foreign Policy Implications,” as well as comment on the sessions.
