A geopolitical puzzle is emerging in the Asia Pacific region, with competing interests in trade, security, infrastructure, and resources reshaping the map. U.S. President Donald Trump’s Indo-Pacific strategy was designed to rebalance China under joint efforts by the so-called Quad Alliance, namely the U.S., Japan, Australia and India. So, how will the Trump administration balance its “America First” outlook with its uncertain alliances and murky strategies in the “Indo Pacific” region to “rebalance China” in 2019?
